About Star Plastics
Since 1988 Star Plastics has grown from a recycling company to one of the highest quality producers of custom compounds in North America.
Star Plastics has its origin in parent company SDR Plastics, which was formed in 1988 as a post-industrial recycling company. As a partner of a Major Resin Manufacturer, SDR received and processed plastic materials that were originally destined for a landfill. Because of SDR and their processing capabilities, those materials were able to re-enter the polymer market and be marketed in competition with prime materials.
Ten years later, Star Plastics began to take shape and the business grew, becoming the custom compounder it is today. Though Star now specializes in custom formulated engineering grade resins Polycarbonate, ABS, Polycarbonate Alloys and Nylons, it carries on the recycling story through recycled content product lines, and processes that enhance materials performance, property and overall value.
From the original tolling-oriented focus, Star has grown and developed into one of the highest quality North American producers of engineering grade custom compounds. While tolling services still serve large resin manufacturers, along with the addition of a materials marketing group, Star continues to have a global impact in the world of plastics.
